Bordeaux Wine Region Prints
Bordeaux Wine Region Prints
This series of prints were done for an assignment highlighting some of the greatest wine growing regions of the world. In all, they include Tuscany, Bordeaux, Mendoza, and the United State’s Napa Valley.
Viticulture was originally introduced to the Bordeaux region of France by the Romans of the first century. Funny thing that in the late 1800’s almost all vineyards in Bordeaux were ruined by an infestation of a tiny root eating insect called Phylloxera. The only cure was to graft insect resistant rootstock from America to the vines of the region, thus making most of current Bordeaux wines American in origin!
Bordeaux is known for it’s chateau’s as much for it’s vineyards. So, I couldn’t resist putting them together in one image for this print.
