A lot of times when I'm trying to decide what will be my next subject I play a little mental game. I ask myself what would I be most thrilled to find hidden in a attic or antique store. I've always dreamed of finding a cache of posters from the age of the Works Progress Administration just like they did at the Smithsonian in Washington D.C. hidden in the buildings attic. Also animals have always been one of my favorite subjects. The possibilities for stylizing their forms are endless. I put the two ideas together and viola'. My goal here was to really give an idea of the massive size of the elephants and I love the way the distant elephants fit underneath the width of the foreground elephant.
